What you desire to accomplish in life must be attached to a specific goal, not to people or circumstances. Goal setting may be the most beneficial practice in bringing your vision to reality. Discover your vision or your dream you desire to achieve and goals will define the specific steps of action you need to take to succeed. Follow these practical steps in designing goals and experiencing progress and success.
Define the finish line. Goals should clearly identify the finished task that you desire to achieve. If you do not define where you are going, how will you know if you arrive? Your vision should give direction but your goals give destinations. Mark your course in life by defining where you desire to end up and what it's going to take to get there!
Goals that are not written down are only wishes. To achieve something, you must clearly identify the finish line and what you must do to get there. Without writing down your goals, you will soon become distracted, derailed and discouraged about your progress. Writing down your goals allows you to "visually visit" them each day which is an important part of achievement.
Goals not practiced today will never get finished tomorrow. Having your goals written down to be visual reminders for your participation only if you are committed to accomplishing those goals. Each day is a new challenge to make personal decisions of what you will do with your time. Your goals should reflect what is important to you and therefore, also determines how you will use your time. Start each day with a new commitment to make progress towards your goals.
Dream big but keep your feet on the ground. Dream big! What do you want to contribute in life? What do you desire to accomplish? What good can you do this week? As you dream, be sure to keep your feet on the ground. In other words, be realistic. Your goals should stretch and challenge you but they should also be attainable! Don't set the finish line so far away you become weary and discouraged from your race.
Finally, as the popular Nike slogan would say, "Just do it!" Satisfaction and confidence develops as you practice and acheive goal setting.

I think that writing down your goals is extremely important as well. if you don't make it in writing, your goals will get pushed to the back of your head, and soon you will forget. If you carry the goals on a sheet of paper everywhere you go, you will have a reminder of what you are striving to be in the end, and you won't forget it.
ReplyDeleteFollowing these steps can definetly help anyone achieve a goal. You also have to be commited to your goal. Develop small task or steps to accomplish the goal. For example if your goal is to graduate college. Think of smaller goals that will help you cross the finish line(get on the deans list, study every night, get a job to help with finances, join a study group). Be determined to fulfill all your little task so that in the end your big dream will be finished.
ReplyDeleteIts a good thing to make your goals for yourself don't choose a goal or visions if someone told you to do it. Your goal must be yours and yours alone. And if you create these goals you shouldn't let other people change your views.
ReplyDeleteYou need to write down your goals and also what inspired you to set them. If your lose inspiration then your not going to continue to work towards them. If you feel like you're losing your inspiration then try to find something else that inspires you. Dreams take inspiration. Don't underestimate your power to inspire others.
ReplyDeletemy biggest problem would be just acting on my dreams. i have no problem making attainable goals but i dont write them down and i forget because i procrastinate too long
ReplyDeletei agree with lindsey its not so much the big oal to be focused on its all the small tasks and goals to get you there it all works together to ya you always want to be focused on the prize but i think its key to break it down into small more reachable steps
ReplyDeleteYour goals should be your vision, transformed into finished product. You should try to make it without other people influence, because if you do than it is not yours and only yours goal. And you must write it down, because that is only way you won't forget it. Quote says "Far from eyes, is far from heart" and that is true, if you do not see your goals every day, soon you will start forgeting them and you will not accomplish them.
ReplyDeletePersonally I believe that dreams not written down are just wishes, but sometimes dreams and desires written is just a wishlist. A person must believe they can truly cross the finishline. They need to dedicate most of their attention to achieve the accomplishment. All power is up to the person of where they are WILLING to finish.
ReplyDeleteI think that the step about not putting it off until tomorrow is the most important one. You can go through the whole process, but if you see an opportunity and pass it over then it doesn't matter. You have to take the first step before you can run :)
ReplyDeleteI think these steps help see what your goal is and how to accomplish it. And dreaming big keeps your spirit alive, always setting goals for small task get boring. But you have to remember to do the little things that work towards that goal, and accomplish a little at a time. Don't just dive in a try to accomplish it in one day.
ReplyDeletePretty good stuff man, these steps can really help a person do something that they have had there sights on for a long time but never really took the time to go for it. Most people wouldn't write there goals down, and that is something that could help you to achieve them.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I think that definding the finish line of your goal is the first and very important step. Because if you don't do this, it reminds Russian folk-tales, where heroes usually get the most difficult tusk from one another person:"Go there, I don't know where, and bring this, I don't know what it is"
ReplyDeleteSo it happenes that we make goals as this person did, but actually WE are the hero to find the answer. That's why it's better not to make difficulties for yourself, what's more if you want them, be sure that reaching your goal is not an easy thing...
